Kip Perdue created Kartegraphik in 2012. The studio takes its name from the German Karte, card or map, and the English cartographic. His paper cut artworks are all crafted in South London and are proudly handmade with a blade.
The goal of Kartegraphik is to map out a personal world in paper. His work displays an enduring interest in fictional places, abstraction, line and color. The majority of his work is paper cut maps varying in size from the small to the very large. This includes street maps, layered topography and bathymety. Much of his art is bespoke commissions commemorating anniversaries, travels, personal milestones, and weddings. His maps fusing important places into joint maps for couples are a particularly interesting part of his work.
