Cecilia Washburn Designs
My work is a celebration of life, colour and texture. I am fascinated by all wildlife and am particularly drawn to the startling, vivid colours of tropical insects, birds and sea creatures.
Much of my work is painted with watercolours and inks, the strength of the pigment in Indian inks particularly captures the intense and beautiful colours of nature. In my original paintings you might find some flashes of metallic ink used to replicate the shiny, metallic qualities of the creature itself. It is often commented that my work captures the subtle humour and character of the creatures I study, which I love.
My cards and notebooks are all printed in the UK on recycled paper. The prints are limited edition giclee prints, printed in Wales on 310 gsm textured paper and are hand signed and numbered.
When not drawing wildlife, I work as a textile designer in the fashion industry. My work is often influenced by my love of pattern, texture and detail, and I like to create repeat patterns out of my work. I am based in Brixton, South London.
